About Danielle
Bio
Danielle Marietta is an award-winning author, publisher, and champion for diverse voices in children’s and middle-grade literature. With her author career kicking off with The Holly-day After and Mr. Maloof, Danielle found joy in creating imaginative books with Black characters front and center. A graduate of Howard University, Danielle’s journey into books blossomed from hours spent reading to her own children, which inspired her to craft stories filled with heart, imagination, and representation.
Danielle’s commitment to uplifting underrepresented voices led her to found Books & Things Publishing in 2021, an independent press dedicated to helping underrepresented authors bring their books to life and build sustainable careers in publishing. In addition to her creative work, Danielle is an author coach and mentor who regularly engages with aspiring writers and students, encouraging a love of reading and storytelling through school visits, workshops, and author guidance. She combines her passion for literature with a mission to make the world of books more equitable, accessible, and joyful for all readers.

Danielle works hard to build a love of reading in her home and with her children. She shares much of her journey and has connected with many moms who are also working hard to keep their kid's screen time down!
Books & Things Publishing
Helping other writers make their author dreams a reality has been one of the greatest accomplishments for Danielle. She believes that there is room for all of our stories and therefore, founded Books & Things Publishing as a platform for underrepresented authors.
